The latest figures from the Brisbane Airport Corporation show an increase in both domestic and international visitor numbers to Queensland. The number of international passengers jumped by 2.7 per cent in August to more than 1.4 million. They included a 152 per cent increase in visitors from Russia and a 71 per cent rise in travellers from the United Arab Emirates. Visitors from Eastern Europe, Africa and South and Central America also rose. In contrast to recent trends, Japanese and South Korean visitor markets showed strong growth. Domestic passenger numbers also increased during August by about 4 per cent to almost 1.5 million.
